about AZLR CARES:​​

AZLR CARES was founded to address the needs of the underserved, unsheltered population nationwide, beginning in Atlanta, GA.  In 2019, the Alpha Zeta Lambda Rho Sorority, Inc. began efforts to make impactful changes in the community.  The mission of Alpha Zeta Lambda Rho Sorority, Inc. to be the first aid and council to underserved, low-income communities became the leading force behind the development of AZLR CARES.  AZLR CARES is a non-profit organization established to support and promote organizations and programs with a mission to serve, uplift, and rehabilitate underserved communities and the families/individuals affected.  Homelessness is present all over the U.S.  In Atlanta, there are approximately 2,100 unsheltered individuals sleeping on the streets.  AZLR CARES’ mission is to transform lives through compassion and action, uniting resources for a stronger, more equitable future and building bridges to end homelessness and poverty.

Our vision is to encourage impactful change in every community we encounter.  AZLR CARES has planned to operate a transitional facility that will help house unsheltered individuals as well as reintroduce life skills to promote independence and reentry into the workforce.  AZLR CARES vision extends to operating mobile units to provide unsheltered individuals with access to fresh food, clean clothing, water, and resources where individuals may not have the means to access this type of assistance.  We want to create a network of resources to assist in rehabilitating the minds of our community to encourage an attitude of progression.  AZLR CARES’ vision includes partnerships in the community with other organizations on the same mission.

The goal of AZLR CARES is to get our presence recognized as a first line of support.  We aim to change the trajectory of homelessness.  AZLR CARES will focus its efforts on helping those in need and developing prevention strategies such as training and life-skills classes for those approaching homelessness.  With the development of the AZLR CARES Mobile Kitchen and AZLR CARES Help Center, AZLR CARES can serve its communities before and after, which gives our organization a competitive edge over other organizations who are focused on providing situational assistance, i.e., access to one-time financial and/or housing assistance.  AZLR CARES will continue to stay persistent in the lives of the individuals until they are able to be fully independent and functional.  AZLR CARES plans to assist with reentry into the workforce with job readiness training/classes and placement assistance.

AZLR CARES is not just another great idea as we have statistics that show the work we are doing in the community has impacted the growth of individuals, restored hope, and given the support necessary towards gaining independence.  We have the potential to help eradicate homelessness, build a community of families and individuals who strive to uplift their communities based on experiences and restore humanity in neighbors otherwise lacking compassion and hope. Our mission is not just to change the conditions of the individual but to build a foundation of support.  We encourage the individual to offer a hand-up by working with us as volunteers to others as we have helped the same individuals.
